My cholesterol level is 317. You might think I am lying and am actually a 500-pound truckdriver who never exercises and only eats fast food. Mysteries of the internet...
Seriously, 317. I have just turned 34 years old, I have 3 children, no gall bladder, tonsils or adenoids, but otherwise really healthy. I am scared and have let barely a hint of cholesterol pass my lips since I discovered this fact a week ago. I am already on meds, hopefully just until I get it down to a reasonable level, I have kicked up my workout routines and am eating only what God has made, nothing processed.
It's all about the cholesterol reduction right now.
Other updates:
*We had a fantastic time in Friday Harbor, I could seriously live there.
*We are supposed to sell our house THIS FRIDAY...please, please let it happen
*We have to have everything OUT of our house this Friday...by 10:00 a.m. - YIKES.
*D is rocking school, but it takes every waking hour.
*I am swamped at work and preparing to start my PhD program on Dec. 3...I think I have lost my mind, but am very excited.
*The kids are so very excited about Halloween, they are so stinking cute and had a party on Saturday where they dressed up, so cute that I almost wanted to break my ban on posting their pics, but I will try to withhold.
Despite all of this, I am relieved that I live in a country where I have access to healthcare and medications and that I can afford this healthcare.
Life is still this good.

Wow CC, that is high. Hows your "good" cholesterol?
You can do this with diet. In fact, last year this exact thing happened to my brother - a highly active individual. With an extremely active job. He did not take the meds, yet opted against his doctors advice to do everything himself. It worked. Even the doctor was stunned each time he had to get back in for a re-check. Which was often.
Things I would try:
Fresh Fruits
Fresh Veggies
Luna Bars - 0% cholesterol- tons of good stuff for women.
Cherios
Oat meal
Whole grain bread
Add also some Fibersure to your diet.
Good luck!
Oh - did they do a 2nd check? Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke?
Hey D, yep, the first check was 312, second was 317. I am opting for the meds for 6 weeks until my check-up...supplementing with some liver cleansing alternative meds. I am total, non-processed girl now, and have eaten lots of steel-cut oats and fresh fruits and veggies...hopefully it will be a much different story in 5 weeks now...
CC
It will be different - diet is everything.
Seriously, get thos Luna Bars. They are 70% organic, 9g Protein, 4g Fiber, Low Glycemic, High in Calcium & Folic Acid & Rich in Antioxidants - besides so many vitamins.
They are a delicious and nutritious snack for women. My trainer led me to them. Not all are the best tasting, but I enjoy the Peanut Butter Cookie one and the Carmel Nut Brownie. Makes you feel like you are getting a yummy treat, while you are receiving a bunch of good stuff.
I also am a big fan of Smoothies.
Ok, yeah that cholesterol level would freak me out too. But then I haven't had mine checked in like 10 years... um, just ignore those fries I had with lunch today!!
Hey, I totally forgot you were going to be in my corner of the planet this month!!! I'm so glad you liked Friday Harbor, it's one of my favorite places on earth. Did you see any whales? Probably not, it being October and all, but thought I'd ask anyway. :)
